Andrea Malapert

2026 Laureate

2026 Laureate, Andrea Malapert is a visual artist who graduated from ESACM in 2025 and is based in Clermont-Ferrand. Her practice combines drawing, installation, and performance, focusing on overlooked everyday objects and motifs, which she transforms in order to restore a sensitive presence to them. She has recently exhibited at ESACM and In Extenso, and taken part in residencies at Kerminy (Brittany) and Namas (Haute-Loire). Her first solo exhibition will take place in September 2026 at homealonE in Saint-Pierre-le-Chastel.

In her practice, which combines drawing, installation, and performance, Andrea Malapert starts from what has been set aside: what belongs to the unwanted, the erroneous, the repulsive. Feedback, a dead fly, viscera. Through alterations and assemblages, she seeks to restore value and a form of attention to these objects and motifs of the everyday.

Her materials—oiled papers, crystallized organic waste, domesticated feedback—assert their own agency through their vulnerability. The paper reveals the tears caused by the process; the petal had withered before being crystallized.

It is through an act of radical tenderness that the artist brings these transmutations into view, at the edge of disappearance, on the threshold of our sensory perceptions. Because, in a contemporary world saturated with spectacle and excess, feminine softness calls for a complete shift in our perception of the world.

As part of the Reynal Prize, Andrea Malapert has chosen to spend time in Lithuania in order to further develop her research and artistic practice.
